Cadbury's Creme Egg – one of the powerhouse chocolates of
the Easter period, have been in the media limelight for all the wrong reasons for
the past couple of years. A storm of protest ensued from consumers when the
recipe was altered in 2015 to use a cheaper chocolate variation as opposed to
the traditional Dairy Milk. As a result
a whopping £10 million was reportedly lost from sales and the reputation turned
to goo.
In the end it is left up to the consumer to decide
whether they still enjoy the taste of the Creme Egg as the manufactures
consider whether the recipe fix is worth the hit in popularity. Perhaps if not,
the famous egg really will be here today and goo tomorrow.
